DRC Ebola Cases Cross 1,000: What Are Latest Updates?
In the DRC:
🟠1,003 confirmed cases and 254 deaths, bringing the case fatality rate to 25.3%;
🟠Since the outbreak in mid-May, 100 people have recovered and 365 people remain in isolation or in hospitals.
"Community communication efforts, diagnosis and case management continue to be intensified to curb the spread," according to the health ministry.
In Uganda:
🟠As of Friday, 19 confirmed cases and 2 deaths;
🟠14 people have recovered;
🟠Since early June, the death rate has not changed.
Measures taken to curb the spread of the disease:
The Congolese authorities announced the provision of free healthcare for people in Ituri, where the highest number of cases has been recorded.
Teams, laboratories, isolation centers, and protective equipment have been deployed in the DRC and other countries.
Сlinical trials of candidate vaccines and treatments are underway.
Russia sent 7,000 tests for diagnosing the Ebola virus to the DRC, the Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
