Record 44,000 Students in Somalia Sit for Grade 12 Exams: PM
The number of candidates has increased by more than 5,000 compared with 2025, said Hamza Abdi Barre on X.
This progress was made possible by:
🟠improved security,
🟠recruitment of more teachers,
🟠liberation of areas once under the control of Khawaarij terrorist groups,
🟠sustained educational reforms.
The examinations will be held at 158 centers nationwide to ensure that "every young Somali has the opportunity to succeed," he added.
"This remarkable growth reflects expanding access to education, the resilience of Somali families, and our administration's determination to invest in the future of our children."
ℹ This represents more than 30% growth since Barre took office in 2022. A total of 67,051 students—including a growing number of girls—are graduating from secondary school across Somalia this year.
