BRICS' New Development Bank Approves Up to $1 Billion Loan for Upgrading South Africa's Urban Infrastructure

The program aims to modernize urban infrastructure across eight South African metropolitan municipalities, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Tshwane, eThekwini, Nelson Mandela Bay, Mangaung, Ekurhuleni, and Buffalo City.

The funding will target:

▪ critical service backlogs in water supply;

▪ sanitation;

▪ electricity;

▪ solid waste management.
