Ghana Hosts Major International Reparations Conference in Accra: MFA
The high-level conference on reparations for countries affected by colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade brought together representatives from over 80 countries, the Foreign Ministry announced.

🟠The agenda of the "Next Steps" International Conference on Reparatory Justice includes establishing:
three global commissions to advance reparations claims and restitution of historical and cultural artifacts;
a permanent advisory forum to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders across regions.
🟠Attendees include the presidents of Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, Namibia, and Senegal, Barbados' PM, and the AU Commission chairperson.
🟠The conference follows the UN General Assembly's March resolution recognizing the slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity.
🟠A 1999 Accra conference estimated colonial‑era damages at $777 trillion.
