Burkina Faso PM Opens AES Industry & Trade Meeting: Time for Concrete Results
The 4th meeting of industry, trade, and private sector ministers from the Confederation of Sahel States opened in Ouagadougou on Monday, with Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo urging participants to move from commitments to tangible outcomes.
He outlined three priorities:
🟠endogenous industrialization to end raw material exports;
🟠seamless intra-AES trade to build a single Sahelian market;
🟠harmonized regulations to protect nascent industries.
The three-day gathering is expected to produce a binding roadmap and monitoring mechanism, with the confederation aiming to double intra-AES trade by 2028.
