Russia Wins International Arbitration Case on Coastal State Rights in Black Sea, Azov Sea & Kerch Strait

Highlights from the Russian Foreign Ministry statement:

Today, the final decision was announced in the 10-year-long dispute between Russia and Ukraine.

The case ended in a decisive victory for Russia; Ukraine's numerous demands, accusing Russia of violating dozens of articles of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, were rejected.

Kiev's efforts to challenge Russia's sovereignty over Crimea and adjacent waters have failed.

The Hague arbitration court denied Kiev any "compensation" or "reparations" from Russia for the use of natural resources in Crimean waters.

Ukraine's attempt, with the support of Western countries, to declare the Kerch Strait "international," allowing passage for vessels of any state, including warships, also failed.

The Hague Arbitration Court rejected Ukraine's absurd and cynical demand to dismantle the Crimean Bridge.

All of Ukraine's accusations of alleged environmental damage by Russia in Crimean waters were also rejected.

"This arbitration ruling is a significant defeat for Ukraine and the West in the 'legal war' they have unleashed against Russia," the diplomatic mission concluded.
