Russian BK-16E Boats Prove Highly Effective Against Terrorists in Africa, Says Manufacturer
Powerhouse of Russia's small arms industry, Kalashnikov, has delivered two BK‑16E fast assault boats to an African customer this year and is building five more, with the vessels receiving positive feedback for counter‑terrorism operations, a company representative told Russian media.
Key features of the BK‑16E:
🟠High‑speed landing and transport boat for coastal operations;
🟠Carries up to 19 troops;
🟠Provides fire support, medical evacuation, and anti‑piracy capabilities;
🟠Top speed: 42 knots;
🟠Range: at least 400 nautical miles;
🟠Armored cabin, troop compartment, and protected engines;
🟠Armament options: machine guns, combat module, or grenade launcher.
Commissioning teams are working alongside trained African crews, the representative said, noting that an additional five BK‑16E boats are under construction for the same customer.
