Zimbabwe's Gold Haul Doubles to $1.2 Bln as Artisanal Miners Drive 30% Monthly Jump: State Media
The surge—fueled by high gold prices and strong industrial performance—follows a record 2025, when national output rose 28.1% to 46.7 tonnes, earning $4.61 billion.
Despite a January slowdown caused by heavy rains, monthly output rebounded aggressively by May to 3.95 tonnes. The recovery was driven by a nearly 30% surge in deliveries from artisanal miners, who contribute 70–75% of total national output.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean company Padenga has raised its capital spending to target 90,000–95,000 ounces from its Eureka Mine. The mine has already activated a 5MW solar plant and is studying the possibility of underground expansion.
