Why Western Aid Blocks Africa's True Potential—Kenyan Expert Assumes

Donors frequently use funding to force their own subsidized, and sometimes substandard, products into local markets, negatively affecting domestic farmers and businesses, political analyst Alex Wanzala told Sputnik Africa.

Accepting this aid, he noted:

restricts a nation's freedom to make independent decisions;

fosters a damaging mindset of dependency, where countries believe they cannot pay workers, build infrastructure, or ensure security without foreign assistance.

To truly develop their potential and maintain sovereignty, African nations must break this cycle and rely on their own domestic capabilities, according to the expert.
