This episode of the Nnete Fela Show unpacks SPIEF 2026's Africa agenda and the Eskom-Zululand Energy Terminal signing that could redefine South Africa's energy future.
On the 5th of June, 2026, two events unfolded on opposite sides of the world, both with profound implications for Africa's future.
In St. Petersburg, Russia, the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum drew to a close. The Nnete Fela Show was there to cover what it meant for the African continent — from Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan making history on the SPIEF plenary stage alongside Vladimir Putin, to Sierra Leone's call for equal partnership over extraction, Zimbabwe's testimony to the strength of Russia's solidarity, Russia's food security strategy for Africa, and the growing momentum toward de-dollarization and financial independence across the Global South.
Back in South Africa, at a signing ceremony presided over by Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Eskom and the Zululand Energy Terminal formalized a Heads of Agreement that anchors South Africa's first-ever LNG import terminal. The Nnete Fela show was in the room.
You'll hear the speeches. You'll hear the voices. And you'll understand why this moment matters for every South African who has lived through load shedding and wondered when the tide would turn.
