Algeria Approves First Certified Drone Pilot Training Center

The state-owned Center for Research in Industrial Technologies (CRTI), through its subsidiary SKY-TEC Engineering, has received Algeria’s first accreditation to train drone pilots for categories 1 and 2.

"Anyone who wants to fly a drone must be trained, assessed, and certified," said CRTI director Dr. Riad Badji, noting that the certification followed years of technical and regulatory work.

Training lasts 8–10 days for hobbyists and up to two months for professionals, with sessions beginning shortly.

The center expects a strong economic impact, especially in agriculture—drones will be used for land mapping, crop monitoring, and precision treatments.

"No pilot will be allowed to fly a drone without a certificate issued exclusively by approved centers," added Prof. Mohamed Bouhicha of the Ministry of Higher Education, noting that other institutions are also seeking accreditation.

The footage shows drones seeding and fertilizing crops in China.
