By institutionalizing BRICS, "you bring about objectivity, transparency, and an element of capability, capacity moving forward," Mtho Xulu, Chairperson of the Trade and Investment Working Group in the SA Chapter of the BRICS Business Council, told Sputnik Africa.
While it doesn't have "to be linked to terms of office," there needs to be "a very great level of organization" and order for BRICS to be "sustainable," he added.
According to Xulu, the steps for BRICS institutionalization include:
🟠Creating a tool for "cross-cutting," like "a single source of trade statistics" to identify opportunities and shocks;
🟠Digitizing "business-to-business connectivity" with a platform that allows engagement and secure payments;
🟠Establishing "a commitment on shared values" regarding product standardization.
"Once you start doing those kinds of things that are institutional, even at a country to country level, the ultimate institutionalization will be easier."
Watch the video to learn how BRICS promotes multilateralism and how Africa can use "the manufacturing capacity within" it.
