'To Make Multipolarity Happen, We Must Restore Trust Between Major Global Players': Chinese Expert

It's necessary "to restore the authority of the UN, which has proven rather passive in several situations," as well as to reform it, Henry Huiyao Wang, president of Center for China and Globalization, said at a #SPIEF2026 session organized by Russia’s Valdai Discussion Club.

"I proposed incorporating the G20 into the UN Security Council... We also need to improve the decision-making process within the organization," he noted.

As AI has become "a serious challenge for us," an international organization for managing AI-related risks must be created, the expert added.

"We need new international mechanisms. [...] We need to find common solutions to common problems, and this applies not only to AI, but also to climate change and unfolding epidemics."
