Under Russia's 2024 BRICS presidency, the question of the payment system "was one of the critical areas," with national currencies being "one of the options for consideration," and a common BRICS currency is still being discussed, he said.
"The Africa–Russia summit in October will look at the reconfiguration of the African Free Trade Continental Area" to "bring Russia and other countries within the region" into "broader alignment."
