Zimbabwe’s Export Structure Shows Gradual Transformation as Product Range Grew in 2010–2024
AfDB’s Export Diversification Index shows Zimbabwe improving from about 0.87 in 2010 to 0.79 in 2024, pointing to broader industrial output and export participation, a state news outlet reported.
In manufacturing, the sector’s share of GDP increased from 9.2% in 2010 to 15.5% in 2024, it added.
This signals a gradual shift in Zimbabwe’s export structure despite structural challenges, according to the report.
Export diversification supports sustainable growth by reducing reliance on a few commodities, boosting foreign currency earnings and making the economy less vulnerable to global market shocks.
