Guinea Holds First Parliamentary and Municipal Elections Since 2021 Coup: Reports

Voting is taking place in a peaceful atmosphere across Guinea, where more than 6.8 million registered voters are casting ballots at around 24,000 polling stations. Observers from the African Union, ECOWAS, and the United Nations are monitoring the process.

The elections are expected to complete Guinea's transition from military rule to constitutional civilian governance. Voters are electing the 147-member National Assembly and local councils in 350 municipalities across the country.

Guinea's first presidential elections since the coup were held in late December 2025, with Mamady Doumbouya elected as president.
