People of South Sudan Are Capable to Independently Resolve Current Internal Instability: Deputy UN Envoy

Russia consistently advocates for the easing of restrictions on South Sudan, Anna Evstigneyeva said at the UN Security Council meeting on US-draft resolution extending sanctions against South Sudan.

Moscow's stance aligns with the broader African position favoring the gradual lifting of Security Council sanctions across the continent—a principle, she noted, that Western nations have cynically disregarded year after year.

Moreover, these sanctions impede the forward momentum of South Sudan's political process and obstruct implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement, the Russian diplomat emphasized.
