Over a Thousand Tonnes of Narcotics Confiscated in Tanzania Last Year: Minister Tanzanian authorities seized a total of 1,074.72 tonnes of narcotic drugs in 2025, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Palamagamba Kabudi told reporters.Cannabis seizures fell by nearly 56% compared to 2024, attributed to plantation destruction and intensified public awareness campaigns, according to Kabudi. The government filed 1,124 drug-related cases, secured 1,058 convictions, and confiscated assets worth over $1.25 million, the minister stated.More than 85,000 individuals received treatment for drug dependence, while public education campaigns reached an estimated 25 million people, he added.
