Extended Hand: ECOWAS Takes Note of AES Successes, Says Nigerien Official
A potential cooperation between the two organizations must not serve as “a pretext for ECOWAS to challenge the sovereignty dynamic of the Sahel countries,” Sanoussi Mahaman, national coordinator of the M62 Movement, told Sputnik Africa.
“Measures must be taken so that this cooperation occurs in respect of the principle of non-interference by external forces in the affairs of African countries. It must be inscribed in a sovereignist dynamic.”
According to him, “internal contradictions” continue to weaken ECOWAS, and other countries could follow the path of the AES.
ℹ On Monday, the ECOWAS mediator, Lansana Kouyaté, was received by the President of Faso, Ibrahim Traoré.
