Women’s Leadership Summit in Douala: African Women’s Potential is 'Not Sufficiently Valued'

The Cameroonian city of Douala is hosting the F-UNION Africa Summit 2026, an event dedicated to the promotion of women’s leadership.

Speaking to Sputnik Africa, several participants emphasized the need to give greater visibility, better recognition, and stronger support to African women in the world of business and leadership.

“Today, women innovate. Do they have access to opportunities? Do they have sufficient access to financing? Do they have sufficient access to networks that can allow them to become the leaders of tomorrow?” questioned Ursule Wonje, founder of the summit.

Women face suspicion and a more critical gaze when they reach high-level positions, said Tima Sebbahi, CEO of True Marketing and Storytelling.

Yet women bring a different and often more effective approach to decision-making, noted Solange Flore Eyango, general manager of the Wood Terminal at the Autonomous Port of Douala.
