Kenya Halts US Move for Ebola Quarantine Facility Building
A Kenyan High Court judge has ruled to temporarily prevent the government from accepting anyone exposed to or infected with Ebola under a proposed arrangement with the US, until a legal challenge is resolved.
The case was brought by the Katiba Institute, which says the plan to establish an Ebola quarantine facility was handled secretly and without proper public participation, parliamentary scrutiny or administrative safeguards.
The facility would be used to quarantine US citizens exposed to Ebola in Kenya. Those who developed symptoms would not be flown back to the US but transferred to another country, the White House said.
