Kenya Should Not Be Treated as Second-Class Country in Ebola Response: Official

All Ebola patients and Ebola-affected persons have human dignity and deserve the best possible care, Law Society of Kenya President Charles Kanjama told Sputnik Africa

The speaker commented on reports that the Trump administration planned a US-run Ebola facility in Kenya for Americans leaving outbreak zones in the DRC and Uganda, after Marco Rubio said Ebola cases would not enter the US.

"Every government must secure the health of its citizens to the extent in which health is a public issue. Because sickness of one person affects others."

Ebola is a global health concern, he added, and all countries "must put their hands together to help resolve the issue."

"We hope that it is something that can be addressed as aggressively as it has been addressed in the past, contained and eliminated."

Watch the video by Sputnik Africa to learn why the reported US request to host a treatment facility in Kenya has sparked debate.
