Madagascar Gets $68 Mln AfDB Boost for Financial Management & Economic Resilience
The bank's package—$27.2 million from the African Development Fund and $40.8 million from the Transition Support Facility—raises total investment under the two-phase program to $136 million, making it one of the bank’s largest budget support commitments to the island country.
"Madagascar has demonstrated the political will and institutional capacity to implement meaningful reforms under difficult circumstances,” AfDB Country Manager Adam Amoumoun said.
The program backs key energy and governance reforms, including:
▪ Independent electricity regulator;
▪ A newly created National Fund for Sustainable Energy for electrification of rural areas.
The program introduces a modernized public-private partnership law designed to attract private investment in clean energy and infrastructure.
