Three African Countries Call to Enhance Cross-Border Cooperation to Contain Ebola Outbreak: Statement

The DRC, Uganda and South Sudan, along with regional and international health organizations, have agreed to adhere to some measures to stop disease outbreak, safeguard communities, and ensure resilient health system on the continent, according to a joint statement.

Here are some of the proposed actions:

🟠Strengthening joint surveillance, real-time data sharing and contact tracing;

🟠Harmonizing health screening at entry points and monitoring population movement;

🟠Protecting health workers and high-risk border communities;

🟠Boosting lab capacity for faster testing and sample transport;

🟠Training staff and prepositioning supplies for rapid response;

🟠Mobilizing urgent funding and operational support from partners.
