Tanzania Accelerates Efforts to Remove Trade Barriers & Boost Economic Cooperation With Neighbors: Minister
The government has identified 14 trade obstacles between Tanzania and Kenya and resolved three of them, Industry and Trade Minister Judith Kapinga announced while presenting the ministry’s 2026/2027 budget estimates.
The resolved issues are:
🟠Removal of unfair import duties and excessive stamp charges on Tanzanian beer exports to Kenya;
🟠Simplified procedures for importing seeds from Kenya into Tanzania;
🟠Harmonization of road user fees.
Tanzania will continue reducing cross-border trade barriers through regional and bilateral platforms to expand business opportunities across East Africa, Kapinga added.
Judith Kapinga and some other Tanzanian officials arrive in parliament in Dodoma for the ministry's budget presentation on Friday.
