Partnership, Solidarity & Data Sovereignty Are Key to Disaster Risk Reduction in Africa: Ethiopian Commissioner
Cooperation should be strengthened to safeguard sovereignty in disaster risk reduction and help reduce the continent’s vulnerability to natural and man-made disasters, Ethiopia’s Disaster Risk Management Commissioner Shiferaw Teklemariam said.
Ethiopia is building reliable capacity to provide humanitarian assistance through its own resources by increasing its strategic reserve, he said, validating the 2023–2024 Africa Biennial Report for Disaster Reduction.
ℹ He noted a growing awareness of the need to move away from a culture of dependency and toward strengthening the productivity of families and communities.
