Zimbabwe Bans Foreign Companies From Small-Scale Gold Mining to Protect Local Operators: Minister
This sector is now reserved primarily for Zimbabwean citizens and Zimbabwean citizen wholly owned entities, Polite Kambamura, Minister of Mines and Mining Development, said.
"All foreign investors and foreign-controlled entities currently participating in the small-scale gold mining sector are required to regularize their operations by transitioning to mining operations above the prescribed small-scale thresholds [by January 2027]," he noted.
The measure aims to promote the growth of local mining enterprises and improve the transparency in the sector, the minister emphasized.
