African countries gain stronger bargaining positions in trade negotiations as Moscow and Beijing oppose unilateral sanctions, according to Asrat Ermolo, a lecturer and researcher at Wachemo University.
The joint stance of Russia and China on forming a multipolar world gives the continent greater freedom and diplomatic leverage, he told Sputnik Africa.
Africa’s push for reforming global financial institutions, protection from secondary sanctions, and respect for national economic sovereignty receives additional diplomatic weight from the Russia-China axis, the expert noted.
