Tanzania Moves Beyond Traditional Tourism Markets, Welcomes New Direct Flights to Russia: Official

The new routes are entering an already established market, backed by a clear customer base that is ready to use the service, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism Hassan Abasi told Sputnik Africa.

"[...] According to our statistics, we already have a considerable number of tourists coming from Russia, and that number has been increasing steadily," he added.

For instance, Tanzania received 11,000 tourists in 2023–2024, and the figure rose to 12,000 in 2024–2025, Abasi noted.

"As we speak today, Air Tanzania already has a potential customer base of 17,000 travelers from Russia coming to Tanzania. Once the flights begin, and as we strengthen our other strategies, the impact will be even greater."
