Highlights of Putin's Official Visit to China on 19-20 May

▪ Russia and China signed 42 joint documents.

▪ The two leaders adopted a joint declaration on deepening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the two countries, as well as a declaration on developing a multipolar world and a new type of international relations.

▪Moscow and Beijing reaffirmed their commitment to developing trade and settlements in their national currencies.

▪ The Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project, intended to increase Russian gas deliveries to China via Mongolia, was discussed. However, no agreement was signed on this matter; some parameters of the project are still being finalized, the parties indicated.

▪ Special attention was paid to coordinating actions within the framework of creating a "more just world order" and strengthening the role of the BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

▪ The parties opposed "destabilizing plans for joint nuclear missions" and stressed the need to strengthen strategic stability.

▪ China and Russia voiced their opposition to the deployment of weapons in space.

▪ Cooperation agreements were signed between Russian and Chinese universities.
