Decision to Build New State House in Zimbabwe 'Forms Part of Larger Mandate to Completely Decolonize Mind:' Official

During its rise, the colonization had different faces, Zimbabwe's ruling party ZANU PF National Deputy Political Commissar of the Youth League, Taurai Kandishaya told Sputnik Africa.

"[...] There was the religious factor, there was the social factor, there was the infrastructure sector. Systems were designed in a colonial shape, buildings were constructed with the colonial architecture."

Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe has pursued what the speaker called “continued sustainable decolonization of the economic sector.”

Currently, he said, the biggest companies in the country are owned by Africans, and Zimbabwe is moving away from “white monopoly capital.”

With the initiative to build a new State House, Zimbabwe is underscoring that it is now “self-reliant,” Kandishaya stressed, adding that the move can help “restore the dignity of an African child.”

"[...] the current State House is where decisions to butcher black people were made," he added.
