Ghana Maps Poverty Across Country 'to Ensure No Community is Left Behind': Statistical Service
The Ghana Statistical Service has successfully launched the District-Level Multidimensional Poverty Incidence for all 261 districts covering the period 2021 to 2025 "to improve lives and drive inclusive national development," according to an official statement.
"These rankings are not about labeling districts. They are about guiding action, improving targeting, and strengthening accountability," head statistician Alhassan Iddrisu noted.
The findings show that poverty goes beyond income and is shaped by:
🟠 Access to education;
🟠 Access to healthcare;
🟠 Decent housing;
🟠 Jobs;
🟠 Clean water and sanitation;
🟠 Opportunities.
Out of 261 districts, 250 recorded reductions in multidimensional poverty between 2021 and 2025, according to the statement.
