Time‑Bomb Biological Weapons in US Labs – World Ignored Russia’s Warnings, Egyptian Security Expert Says
The grave danger posed by the sudden US shift regarding biological laboratories—moving from denial to acknowledgment and opening investigations—carries deep political and intelligence dimensions, international counterterrorism expert Colonel Hatem Saber warned.
The investigations cover more than 120 labs, Saber told Sputnik, warning about "gain-of-function" research, which modifies viruses. He described this research as a "ticking biological bomb" that could trigger a global pandemic.
The expert also expressed concerns that genetic data could be used to develop weapons targeting specific populations.
The US admission of the existence of these labs marks "a victory of information over secrecy" but raises questions about whether such activities will actually stop or continue under new names, Saber stressed.
