Africans Have Always Been Used as 'Study Material' in US Biological Experiments: SA Expert

The US has put its biolaboratories abroad under investigation because "its credibility is now at stake," Dr. Blessing Karumbidza, an economic historian and development sociologist from the Tshwane University of Technology, told Sputnik Africa.

"Our pain becomes visible only when it threatens US interests and US power. So, from an African perspective, then, the US investigation is not simply about science; it is about power, because for decades African bodies have been treated as laboratories for Western experiments," he noted.

These experiments pose a serious threat to both Africa's biosecurity and sovereignty, as such studies "perpetuate the knowledge of imperialism," the speaker emphasized.

"Sovereignty without this scientific independence leaves Africa vulnerable to exploitation," he stressed.
