East Africa Debuts Regional Quality Awards to Sharpen Trade Edge
On Wednesday, the East African Community (EAC) launched the 2026 Regional Quality Awards, recognizing businesses that excel in quality, innovation, and standards compliance.
“Quality is the foundation of competitiveness. Even where the term may not be explicitly stated in some policy instruments, it is reflected in our industrialization strategies, integration agenda and efforts to build a competitive economy,” EAC Trade Director Flavia Busingye said.
Winners will be honored this October in Kigali during the EAC MSME Fair, with officials pledging full support for the awards as a key step to making East Africa a competitive production hub, Rwandan Trade Minister Cassien Karangwa announced.
