South Africa Launches Nationwide Presidential One Billion Trees Programme in Pretoria

The initiative underscores a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and the development of a greener future for South Africa, Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Bernice Swarts noted on the occasion.

"This year alone we aim to plant 10 million trees on Heritage Day at no cost to government,” she said.

The Deputy Minister also planted a tree, symbolizing commitment to environmental protection.

"Let us plant not only trees, but the seeds of hope, dignity and lasting change in every community across our nation,” Swarts noted.
