Zimbabwe's Gold-Backed Economy Producing 'Substantial Outcomes,' President Says

On Monday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa inspected the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s vaults to verify the country’s gold and ZiG reserves.

"With over 4 metric tonnes of gold and foreign currency reserves, our ZiG currency remains fully backed and resilient to global economic shocks," he said.

These reserves are real assets that support the country's monetary sovereignty, not just figures, the president stressed.

"As we progress toward our goal of 5 metric tonnes by year-end, we remain committed to fostering a stable, transparent, and prosperous economy for all Zimbabweans."
