AMVCA 2026 Celebrates Achievements in African Film, TV & Digital Content

Held in Lagos, the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards—an annual ceremony—brought together actors, filmmakers, content creators and entertainment personalities from across Africa.

Key moments of the night:

Bread dress: Queen Atang—a Nigerian reality TV star—wore a gown adorned with real loaves;

Biggest upset: Nigerian "Behind the Scenes" by Funke Akindele—with over $1.47 million at box office—lost all five nominations;

First time for AMVCA: Linda Ejiofor—a Nigerian actress—won both Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actress;

Castle dress: Nana Akua Addo—Ghanaian model and actress—wore a cathedral-inspired outfit;

Three awards: Nigerian "My Father's Shadow" by Akinola Davies won Best Movie, Best Director, and Best Writing;


Lagos Governor's warning: "We need to kill piracy in whatever form or shape," Babajide Sanwo-olu said.
