Compared to COVID, 'We're Able to Act Much Quicker' in Response to Hantavirus, SA Doctor Says

Hantavirus—an airborne virus transmitted through inhaling dry urine or droppings from rodents—"is causing mass panic around people," Bongiwe Shongwe, a medical doctor, told Sputnik Africa.

"The spread from person to person is very much uncommon and rare. [...] Usually people who work in farms are the ones that are highly exposed," she pointed out.

We are seeing much faster responsiveness now compared to 2019, with people being tested immediately "so that we make sure that the public is safe," Shongwe added.

Watch the video to learn about the two syndromes caused by Hantavirus.
