Senegal Has 'Formidable Opportunity' to Use Its Gas Resources for Its People, Says Expert
Following the withdrawal of US company Kosmos Energy from Senegal's Yakaar-Teranga gas project, Dakar has a chance to pursue a genuine energy transition and exploit its resources "in full sovereignty," according to Senegalese oil expert Ibrahima Bachir Dramé.
However, the state-owned Petrosen, which acquired the full ownership of the project, will not be able to exploit this field, one of the largest in West Africa, on its own, he told Sputnik Africa.
"That doesn’t exist anywhere in the world. You always need international help, a major company, because it requires enormous resources," he said.
