Ethiopia Leads Africa in Wheat Production With 33 Million Tonnes, Says PM
According to Abiy Ahmed, during this year's production season, fields are expected to be covered with:
▪ Winter irrigation: 4.4 million hectares;
▪ Summer irrigation: 3.8 million hectares;
▪ Total wheat cultivation: more than 8 million hectares.
Despite challenges, an additional 950,000 hectares are expected this season, with wheat production projected to rise from 280 million kilograms last year to 33.1 million tonnes this year, the prime minister noted during his visit to the farming region of Oromia.
