We Want Africa 'Tell Her Own Story' for Benefit of Continent: Official
Africans need quality journalism today more than ever to make informed life-improving decisions, Churchill Otieno, Chairperson of the Africa Media Convention Steering Committee and President of Africa Editor's Forum told Sputnik Africa.
"Today we are at a seminal moment, where we are taking stock of the journey so far and using the lessons we have learned to strengthen our structures and make it more possible for us to impact the media space [...]."
It is now possible for citizens to project their views and opinions much further than before, and "that is a good thing," Otieno said.
"But it's also come with quite significant challenges, especially regarding the information disorder—or information integrity—that we must deal with."
Watch the video to learn how the African Media Convention—soon to be adopted in Lusaka—will shape AU media and information policies.
