Pan-Africanism 101: Why Africa Must Demand Accountability From West & Unite Internally
This special episode of Pan-African Frequency examines how the continent can leverage its youth, resources, and strategic partnerships in navigating multipolarity and confronting neo-colonialism.
For the 100th episode of Pan-African Frequency, the podcast took on the full landscape of Africa’s rising influence. Said Bakkali of Morocco’s Party of Progress and Socialism was unequivocal about the unfinished business of colonialism. Reparations, he insisted, are not just about money. He pointed to the ongoing instability in the Sahel as proof that the crimes never really ended. To confront this, he advocated for continental unity and integration, and deep cooperation with non‑colonial powers: Russia and China.
“I think that Africa has always been a victim of capitalism and imperialism of the world. We have suffered from centuries of different aggressions, starting from slavery, going to colonialism, and ending by exploiting, massive exploitation of our resources by the former colonial powers. I think that Africa today has a lot of advantages [...] it [reparations] is first of all about recognition of crimes of the Western colonial powers against African people and African states [...] we have to cooperate very profoundly with the international powers and the big countries that didn't have any colonial past in Africa. And here I have to mention the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. It's important that we work with these very important poles of the world today, pillars of the multipolarity of today's world, in order to confront the continuing aggression of the Western countries and organizations,” he stated.
