Ethiopia on Track to Hit Historic 10 Billion Export Revenue: State Media

The sector’s strong gains to recent manufacturing growth, in line with the country’s strategy to boost exports and reduce import dependence through domestic production, Abiy Ahmed reportedly said.
Ethiopia has saved over $14.5 billion in foreign currency over four years via import substitution under the “Made in Ethiopia” campaign, while also driving economic growth—projected at 10.2% this fiscal year, he noted.
Since the campaign began:
▪~993 closed factories have reopened;
▪3,680 new investors have entered manufacturing;
▪Export performance have reached $8.3 billion last fiscal year (up 115.8%);
▪Manufacturing growth rose from 4.8% to 10.7%;
▪More than 2,800 investments attracted;
▪1.4 million jobs created.
