South Africa Ranks 8th Worldwide in Aviation Safety: Report
The country received a preliminary score of 95.12% in an audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization, South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) noted in a report.
"It reflects the strength of the systems we have in place and the collective effort to ensure the safety of our skies," Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy said on the occasion.
The strong rating indicates that the country’s regulatory oversight aligns with global best practices, supporting sustained international connectivity, access to markets, and the long‑term growth of the aviation sector.
"This remarkable outcome is further testament to the zero fatal accident rate in the commercial airline sector which South Africa has enjoyed for over four decades,” SACAA's Director of Civil Aviation Poppy Khoza emphasized.
