Algeria to Complete Power Plant Construction in Niger Within 3 Months: President Tebboune
The Algerian president described the project as a "historic achievement" and a symbol of strengthened cooperation between the two countries during the last Council of Ministers meeting.
The power plant, named "Solidarity," aims to stabilize Niamey's electricity supply and strengthen Niger's energy security with the support of Sonelgaz.
Tebboune also ordered the diversification of cooperation into hydrocarbons, oil exploration, and the creation of joint media partnerships between the two countries.
The 40-megawatt project was initiated following the Nigerien Head of State's official visit to Algeria last February. It consists of the installation of two gas turbines, each with a capacity of 20 megawatts, to support the domestic and industrial needs of Niger.
