Ghana’s Inflation Rate Drops From 23.5% to 5.4% in 2025: Ghana Statistical Service
Inflation declined for 12 months straight, one of the strongest disinflation episodes in the region, yet "the overall cost of living remains elevated," according to the country's first-ever Annual Inflation Report.
Key insights from the report:
🟠Food accounts for over half of total inflation;
🟠Housing and utilities—especially electricity—remain persistent sources of pressure;
🟠About 74% of price pressures came from domestic factors, not imports;
🟠Inflation rates vary across the country, with progress being real but uneven.
The progress was driven by policy coordination between the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Finance, including tight monetary policy, fiscal discipline, exchange rate stability, and easing fuel prices.
"The focus now moves from reducing inflation to sustaining stability," the report noted.
