Ethiopian Products Must Gain Recognition at Home and Abroad: Ethiopian Scholar
Achievements under the Made in Ethiopia initiative and import substitution are playing a key role in the country's economic growth, food production and sustainable development, Mohammed Isa, a professor at Wolkite University, told Sputnik Africa.
"At present, it can be said that wheat is almost fully covered by national production capacity. This is a strong result seen in the country due to the national policy implemented by the government. Another thing is that many agricultural inputs and services, manufacturing items, and industrial goods used to be imported from foreign countries. Now, however, the government is working hard to replace these goods and services with domestic production capacity," he noted.
It is necessary to improve the quality of exported products and expand industries to strengthen the country's economic capacity, the expert emphasized.
"We must export various types of products. If we add value to these goods, we will generate additional income because the national domestic production is measured by the value-added process," he stressed.
