Assimi Goita Launches New Malian Defense Strategy
The leader of Mali "has formulated 16 strategic guidelines intended to further strengthen the national defense and security framework," according to a statement from the presidency.
The proposal was made within the framework of the Supreme Council of National Defense.
According to media reports, these directives aim to:
▪ strengthen the security coverage across the territory;
▪ intensify targeted offensive operations;
▪ improve operational intelligence;
▪ consolidate coordination among the various forces;
▪ enhance cooperation with local populations.
During the meeting, the council "conducted an in-depth analysis of the security situation" in the country, the statement said.
On April 25, a wave of coordinated terrorist attacks swept across several Malian settlements.
