Nigerian President Appoints Bianca Ojukwu as Foreign Affairs Minister
The former minister of state for foreign affairs steps into the role after her predecessor, Yusuf Tuggar, resigned to focus on the 2027 elections.
🟠A lawyer, diplomat, and former beauty queen, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 1988 and later became the first African to win the Miss Intercontinental pageant.
🟠As a diplomat, she has served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain and Ghana, as well as the country’s permanent representative to the UN World Tourism Organization.
President Bola Tinubu also nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State, subject to Senate confirmation.
The changes aim to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy for greater efficiency and strategic global engagement, Tinubu said, urging the appointees to advance economic diplomacy, foster regional stability, and protect the welfare of Nigerians.
